What a €49 Per Month Website Actually Gets a Small Business

1 March 2025

Most trades businesses that approach a web agency for a website get quoted between €1,500 and €5,000 to build it, plus ongoing monthly costs for hosting and maintenance. For a sole trader or small team, that is a significant upfront commitment for something that may or may not deliver results.

There is a different model. A monthly subscription that covers everything, no large upfront cost, and a website designed specifically for the way trades and service businesses actually need to be found online.

Here is what €49 a month gets, and more importantly, what it is actually for.

What is included

A five-page website covering what a trades website needs: home, services, about, areas covered, and contact. Built on a fast, mobile-first template designed for trades businesses. Hosted on reliable infrastructure with SSL included. Maintained and updated. A Google Business Profile set up and optimised. Your business listed in the key Irish directories consistently.

No large upfront cost. No contract beyond reasonable notice. Everything needed to be found online by local customers, maintained by someone else.

What it is actually for

The website is not an end in itself. It is the address that everything else points to.

When you ask a satisfied customer to leave a Google review, the review links to your website. When someone asks a neighbour for a recommendation and they mention your name, the neighbour Googles you. When you put your web address on a van, a business card, or a quote, that is where people go.

The website needs to do one thing well when those people arrive: make it immediately clear what you do, where you do it, that you are credible and professional, and how to contact you. That is it. Five pages built for that purpose does it.

What it is not

It is not a marketing campaign. The website and Google Business Profile make you findable when people are already looking for what you do, and that is why a website beats Facebook for trades businesses. They do not create demand that does not exist.

It is not a replacement for reputation. A business with good reviews and word-of-mouth referrals that also has a proper online presence will grow faster than one that relies on either alone.

It is not a set-and-forget solution for growth. For trades businesses in competitive markets or looking to scale significantly, additional investment in local SEO, content, and Google Ads will be needed over time. The €49 subscription is the foundation, not the ceiling.

Who it is right for

A trades or service business that is currently losing jobs to competitors with worse websites, has no website, or has a website that is outdated or not performing. A business that is getting most of its work through word of mouth and wants to add a consistent online channel. A sole trader or small team that does not want to spend thousands upfront or manage technical complexity.

If that describes your situation, the economics are straightforward. One additional job per year from an online enquiry covers the annual cost. Most businesses find they get considerably more than that from a properly set up online presence.
